The termination of ICANN-accredited registrar EstDomains is to go ahead, effective 24 November 2008.

Another Microsoft Blunder

As bad as spam has been over the years, you would think that Microsoft has learned to keep their network secured.  Guess not.  We received an email advertising a gambling site the other day.  There really wasn't anything different with it that stuck out from all the other spam mails.  So we tore it appart and discovered that the link to this gambling site started out with a domain that is owned by Microsoft and they allow people to have websites on that domain.  Anyways, it turns out that the link provided in this email was being redirected from that Microsoft domain to the actual gambling site hosted in Panama.  For more information on all this, goto Spacequad Spamtracker and see for yourself.  Any comments on why they would allow such a blunder like this?  Anyone?

Microsoft fails to keep its own DNS up to date

Have you seen the latest in what could be Microsoft's latest blunders?  Recently we've been receiving spam mails toting pharmaceuticals.  So far as the number of inbound spam messages that we've received that are directly related to Microsoft, is two now.  In reporting these issues to Microsoft has gone either unanswered or the email abuse was rejected by their own servers.  This why we've decided to report here instead.  Now we know that the spammers are trying to do anything and everything to hide, but to circumvent and hide right under the nose of the largest software maker in the world, this is gutsy and daring one to get caught.  So without going to to much detail here, we've provided two links, so far to our investigation in these crimes is a bit disturbing.  Check out the links that we have here and here.  See for yourself and verify the information.  Keep in mind however, that the info on these two issues may be resolved or closed in the near future.  If you are a representative working for Microsoft, please contact us, as our attempts to contact you have failed.  Those wishing to comment on this story, please do.

BotNet herders getting desperate

From pushing Pharmaceuticals to fake lottery scams, these bot-masters have done it all.  It seems now thru the success of social engineering sites like Facebook, Yahoo360, and others, they (the spammers) have honed their skills at finding what people are most likely to hit their mouse button on

Fortunately up until this morning, we here at Spacequad had never experienced this type of email.  Well, we could be so lucky for ever and not get any.  But, we did, and we checked it out and, sure enough.  It was a fake update to the Adobe flash player.

Bad Behavior Spam

Hey spammers...has it ever occured to you that once a domain has been suspended/terminated, that it no longer resolves to a web page?  Case in point, look at the following attempted spam posting to see what domain name had been shut down.  So why do y9ou keep bothering to send out the same junk, even after the fact.
